LED ZEPPELIN IV - Influences & Covers

Led Zeppelin's fourth album, for the most part, is almost completely original. The exception being their cover of "When The Levee Breaks". That being said, there are still bits and pieces of others' songs nipped in at least half of the albums tracks. Below is a list of the actual and possible sources of inspiration for each song.

01 - BLACK DOG:
Oh Well, Part 1 (FLEETWOOD MAC)

02 - ROCK AND ROLL:
Keep A Knockin' (LITTLE RICHARD)
Good Golly Miss Molly (LITTLE RICHARD)

03 - THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE:
The Lord Of The Rings (J.R.R. TOLKIEN)

04 - STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN:
Taurus (SPIRIT)
Summer Rain (JOHNNY RIVERS)
And She's Lonely (THE CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND)

05 - MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP:
Inspired by the 1968 Hyde Park Pot Rally
The Hobbit/The Lord Of The Rings (J.R.R. TOLKIEN)

06 - FOUR STICKS:
Inspired by Indian & Middle Eastern music

07 - GOING TO CALIFORNIA:
Go Your Way My Love (BERT JANSCH)
I Had A King (JONI MITCHELL)

08 - WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS:
When The Levee Breaks (MEMPHIS MINNIE)
